I’m interested in forms that reflect surfaces appearing in nature by incorporating various clay textures and glaze combinations into my work.

I find joy in creating work that connects me to the outdoors.  I love to watch a mountain or tree appear from a few simple carved lines.  I feel connected to the past when pressing lace someone made decades ago into clay in order to create an interesting texture.  I smile when I mark the clay with simple squiggle lines.  Making pottery by hand is a slow and quiet process similar to walking in the woods, knitting by hand, or even rock climbing.  Be present, put down the devices, and breathe in the details.
